Hoje, meu xará, eu jogo no Corinthians.

RESPOSTA DO CORINTHIANS

Leeds United confirm Amari Miller signing

Leeds United have confirmed some exciting news with the signing of Amari Miller.

What’s the story?

According to recent reports from Football Insider, Marcelo Bielsa’s side were in negotiations with Birmingham City over bringing the 18-year-old to Elland Road this summer. The report claimed that “a source has told Football Insider Leeds have moved quickly to offer a contract to Miller and the Championship side would not stand in the way of him leaving”.

That has now come to fruition, as the Whites confirmed via their official website that Miller has joined for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year contract at Elland Road.

Bielsa will be buzzing

The teenager can play on both the right and left flanks, and he had his former boss Lee Bowyer raving about both his ability and potential.

The Birmingham manager said: “I want to look at Amari, I will look at him from the start of a game. He is a young lad who does well when he comes on for five-ten minutes when everyone’s tired.

“I want to look at him and see if he can start a game next season for us because he has got potential. I don’t know, this is something I have got two games to figure out because he is a good player who has got great potential. He came on against Derby again and did well.

“(He adds) Goals, assists, pace, something that we probably lack a bit is pace. He’s at that age where he is fearless. When he came on against Stoke, he got himself into an area and wasn’t afraid to go at the defender.”

That fearlessness is something which will have Bielsa excited at the prospect of managing him and taking him under his wing, much like he has done with the likes of England international Kalvin Phillips, who has been starring at Euro 2020 in recent weeks.

While at 18 Miller may not be featuring in the Whites’ first team anytime soon, it’s a move which spells an exciting future for both the player and the club in the long-term.

The news coming out of Thorp Arch should have Bielsa buzzing at Miller’s potential impact on the Leeds team in the years to come.

Meanwhile, this Leeds United transfer target would be a major upgrade…

Fiery Shoaib strikes terror in Kiwi hearts

KARACHI, April 21: Shoaib Akhtar inflicted a further psychological blow to injury-stricken New Zealand with a career-best performance that guided Pakistan to a crushing 153-run victory in the first One-day International at National Stadium Sunday

Samiul Hasan22-Apr-2002KARACHI, April 21: Shoaib Akhtar inflicted a further psychological blow to injury-stricken New Zealand with a career-best performance that guided Pakistan to a crushing 153-run victory in the first One-day International at National Stadium Sunday.Shoaib’s magnificent performance, that saw him finish with six for 16, virtually overshadowed a marvellous century by Yousuf Youhana who struck 125 – his sixth century in 101 matches – to lift Pakistan from 49 for three to an imposing 275 for six.New Zealand, who were without skipper Stephen Fleming. Arriving in the country without four frontline players, the Kiwis were blown away for 122 in 30 overs.Shoaib was simply unplayable on a good batting track and in front of a full house. He regularly bowled at a blistering pace which the New Zealand batsmen failed to cope with. Such was the fear of Shoaib, that the lower middle-order batsmen virtually stepped down the track in an effort to save themselves from being hit. They managed to protect their well guarded bodies, but failed to save the furniture behind them as the stumps were sent cartwheeling at regular intervals.Shoaib looked focussed and immediately stamped his authority on the hapless New Zealanders by claiming the prized scalp of stand-in captain Craig McMillan who holed out to Saqlain Mushtaq at mid-on while trying an attempted hook shot. It was Shoaib’s 100th wicket in 60th match. From then on, there was no stopping Shoaib and with the crowd cheering him on, it looked he would pick a wicket off every delivery. It was pleasing to see Shoaib bowl at such a frightening pace, particularly after what he had gone through in recent times.New Zealand, chasing a decent score, were off to a flying start when Nathan Astle and Matthew Horne put on 53 inside the first 10 overs. Astle looked like regaining his form, which served him so well against England recently, with some exquisite strokes. But as it looked that the Karachi crowd will be entertained by his free stroking ability, Waqar Younis outfoxed him with a change of pace to bowl him. In the following over, Wasim Akram restricted Lou Vincent’s outing to just five balls by pinning him in front of the stumps.Horne’s brief innings ended on a tragic note when McMillan failed to respond to his call. It was then when Shoaib got his act together and virtually toyed with the inexperienced New Zealand batting.Earlier in the day, Youhana stroked a typically gutsy century to pull Pakistan out of trouble. Youhana and Younis Khan put on 161 off 192 balls for the fourth wicket that allowed Abdul Razzaq to play a little cameo knock later. Razzaq clobbered a boundary and two sixes in his 18-ball 30 as Pakistan collected 92 off the last 10 overs.Youhana, fresh from his match-winning century in the Sharjah Cup final last week, continued with his excellent form with another superb innings after Pakistan had lost three for 49.Youhana, who needed Imran Nazir as runner to complete his century, scored his runs off 155 balls with the aid of 14 boundaries and a six.Younis Khan concentrated on nudges and pushes but punished anything loose to the boundary. His 81-ball 69 included three boundaries and a six, carved over point just before he was out.Younis and Youhana had pulled Pakistan out of deep waters after Shahid Afridi, Imran Nazir and Inzamam-ul-Haq had returned to the dressing room, falling to poor shots. Afridi holed out to McMillan at mid-off while Imran and Inzamam were caught at deep square-leg while hooking.Pakistan’s innings was halted for 19 minutes when a missile thrown from the Intikhab Alam enclosure hit Andre Adams. McMillan brought the team back but led his men into the field after local hero Rashid Latif pleaded with the spectators to calm down. Rashid’s words turned out to be magic as there was no further trouble. But the stupidity of one man certainly left a bad taste in the mouth, particularly after New Zealand is the first international team to visit Pakistan for a full tour following Sept 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The crowd needs to show a lot of discipline and character in the forthcoming matches as their one act of madness can force Australia to cancel their tour in October.

Pundit can see Sergio Ramos to Tottenham happening - Exclusive

Former Premier League striker Dean Windass believes Sergio Ramos joining Tottenham this summer is a possibility.

Ramos, 35, is looking for a new club after leaving Real Madrid and has already been linked with a host of English teams, such as Chelsea and Manchester City.

Both sides have Champions League football to offer, giving them the upper hand over Tottenham, who will not even be in the Europa League this upcoming season after finishing seventh last term and being forced to settle for the Europa Conference League.

Even so, Windass can still imagine the 6 ft 1 Spanish defender, who Glenn Hoddle believes can bring much to a side, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“He’d be a great fit for a back three,” the ex-Hull City star exclusively told FFC when asked if Ramos joining Spurs was a possibility.

“I know he’s not a young man anymore, but he’s experienced and he’s still got that little bit of pace. I could see that happening.”

Of course, Ramos is not getting any younger. But on a free transfer for a year or two, he could be brilliant business.

The Spanish centre-half has won everything at both club and international level, including the Champions League on multiple occasions and the World Cup. That winning pedigree is something Spurs could desperately do with.

Nic Pothas interview

The pull of being offered more wicket-keeping opportunities was one of the main attractions that satisfied Nic Pothas when he shunned a host of other counties and joined Hampshire.

The pull of being offered more wicket-keeping opportunities was one of the main attractions that satisfied Nic Pothas when he shunned a host of other counties and joined Hampshire.Pothas, the 28-year-old from Johannesburg creeps under the wire in the county cricket by virtue of holding a Greek passport, a family link with the European country allows him to play as a non-overseas player, much in the same way as players like Joe Scuderi at Lancashire and Kevin Pietersen at Nottinghamshire. It seems to be all the rage in county cricket at present, and Hampshire has joined this growing trend by signing the South African. But his link with Hampshire coach Jimmy Cook was also a swaying factor. Pothas made his first class debut at the Wanderers for Transvaal in October 1993 alongside Cook, who characteristically hit 102 out of his states’ 602-9dec first innings total. South African test star Darryl Cullinan top scored with 337*!On signing a two-year contract, Pothas was looking forward to the challenge that county cricket holds. “I knew what the situation was at Hampshire when I signed. But the other counties that showed an interest wanted me to play specifically as a batter.”At Hampshire, I know I will be keeping in the one-day games and when Adrian Aymes decides to call it a day, then I would like to hope I would take over.”Hampshire was the best place for me to come in that respect, but also Jimmy Cook is here too and he is someone I have played with and be coached under. The point that he has played and coached county cricket also is a bonus.”A little known fact about him is that he has represented his country in three one-day internationals, during the Godrej Singapore Challenge in August 2000, playing as a keeper in the absence of Mark Boucher.Batting just the once, on his debut, he struck 24 batting at number seven. Now, having pinned his hopes on a career in county cricket, he is classed as an overseas player in his own country – “you cannot be a local cricketer for two first-class sides in a twelve month period. I have sat out the last year at home, with the aim of playing here in England.”He has played 86 first-class matches and scored 3889 runs at an average of 36, with a highest score of 165 – for South African Combined Universities against the touring Englishmen that contained his new captain, Robin Smith.Pothas could not remember having met Smith in the past – it was only when he was reminded that for former England batsman held the catch that ended his lengthy innings did it occur to him that he probably had …. cursed him at some point !!!”Robin has been superb, as all the lads have since I arrived. It has been way beyond my expectations. Generally, when you go to a new place, there are guys you do not get on with but here, there is not one single person I have not enjoyed.”Robin is down to earth, simple in his techniques and simple in the things he does. I am really looking forward to the season ahead, but have made no immediate personal aspirations for my performance.”I have made no run targets or catches targets or targets to be playing for England in two or three years time. I just want to be as successful as possible and see the club winning trophies.”

Steve Bull: We’re going to see a "lot of shocks" at Wolves

Club legend Steve Bull feels Wolverhampton Wanderers fans can expect to see a number of shocks this summer, with some key players possibly facing the chop under new boss Bruno Lage.

Former Benfica head coach Lage was appointed as Wolves’ new chief last month, following Nuno Espirito Santo’s decision to leave at the end of last season.

The Portuguese has moved quickly to add two promising youngsters to his squad, with 20-year-old defender Yerson Mosquera making the move from Colombian outfit Atletico Nacional and Francisco Trincão completing a season-long loan switch from Spanish giants Barcelona.

Lage is expected to be busy in the transfer window, with fears that Nuno could be looking to take some of his former charges to Tottenham Hotspur following his appointment in north London.

Bull, who is Wolves’ record top goalscorer, feels a number of players who have played a key role since the club’s Championship title win in 2018 could move on from Molineux.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, he said: “It all comes down to the new manager but I would keep all of the players, if I could, and strengthen on top of that.

“I think we’re going to see a lot of shocks. I know the manager has come in and there will still be a lot of players going out who no-one would have expected to leave.

“There will also be players coming in who no-one expected. Hopefully, when a player signs, he needs to get his feet under the table as soon as possible.

“On that first day of training, Lage needs a full and fit squad to have a good go next year.”
