يواصل الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي الأهلي استعداداته المكثفة لمواجهة حاسمة تجمعه بفريق الهلال السوداني، في إطار منافسات إياب الدور ربع النهائي من بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا لموسم 2024-2025.

ومن المقرر أن تُقام مباراة الأهلي والهلال، مساء الثلاثاء المقبل على ملعب “شيخا ولد بيديا” في العاصمة الموريتانية نواكشوط، في لقاء يُنتظر أن يكون مثيرًا ومليئًا بالتحديات.

وكان الأهلي قد نجح في حسم لقاء الذهاب لصالحه بهدف دون رد أحرزه المدافع محمد هاني، في المباراة التي أقيمت على استاد القاهرة الدولي، وسط حضور جماهيري كبير دعم الفريق بقوة طوال التسعين دقيقة.

ويطمح الأهلي لمواصلة مشواره الإفريقي والتأهل إلى نصف النهائي، حيث ينتظر الفائز من مواجهة صن داونز الجنوب أفريقي والترجي التونسي، في قمة أخرى من قمم القارة السمراء.

وفي إطار التحضيرات الفنية، أعلن الجهاز الفني بقيادة السويسري مارسيل كولر عن قائمة الفريق التي ستتجه إلى موريتانيا، والتي ضمت مجموعة من العناصر الأساسية إلى جانب عدد من اللاعبين الشباب تحسبًا لأي طارئ.

The January transfer window may not be a busy month for any of the Premier League teams, but it is an opportunity for them to possibly add one or two players to their squad that may be available either for the long term or the short term.

Heading into the New Year, the Reds seem to have their eye on two players, one being Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel. The young star has struggled for regular game time this season under manager Vincent Kompany, and that has brought up speculation that he could leave them on a temporary basis in January. Reports claimed Forest have made an approach to sign Tel on loan, but it will be down to the player whether he would like to join the Premier League side or not.

As well as looking at Tel, Forest are also keeping an eye on Flamengo’s Lorran. The 18-year-old is very highly rated in Brazil, and his performances have put him on the radar of teams from the Premier League.

The Reds are watching Lorran closely, but it would be a costly deal should they go through with it, as he’s got a release clause worth £41 million. But Forest are not stopping there, as they also have their eye on a forward who will likely be relatively unknown to supporters.

According to Alkass TV Sports, relayed by Nottingham News, Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Marwan Al-Sahafi from Al-Ittihad. The 20-year-old came through the academy at the Saudi Arabian side and played 20 times in the first team last season.

The other thing is, we found out in last few tournaments – like at the Under-19 World Cup [in the Caribbean in January-February] – is even though we had number of positive tests, the number of people displaying symptoms were very low. We want to focus on keeping people safe and healthy. It’s a bit of a change from where we may have been six months ago.”Allardice stressed on how tough the logistics of ensuring all teams reach New Zealand – whose borders are only partially open – first and then facilitating adequate preparation time following MIQs have been.”In November, the New Zealand government increased quarantine period to ten days, so we added extra time for teams to prepare. Then it went back to seven days. So, logistically, it has been challenging with dates and timings,” Allardice said. “They are now restrictions on number of people who can attend matches. In almost all of our tournaments, we have been challenged with number of players being unavailable due to isolation for positive Covid tests. We had quite a close call in the West Indies with the men’s Under-19 World Cup, where a number of teams had outbreaks.”We needed to have some contingency plans. I know they have attracted a bit of attention, but in terms of having to think these things through, how you give teams the best chance to prepare knowing what might happen, that’s the reason we came up with that protocol. The bottom line is, we want 11 vs 11. We have squads of 15, all teams are travelling with reserve players as a contingency.”The announcement or introduction of those protocols was very much given the uncertainty of the event we were dealing with. We had the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe where one team was marginal in terms of players available for some of the matches. We had the same situation at the Under-19 World Cup [in the Caribbean]. Fingers crossed we don’t have to get anywhere near it. But there may be situations where if a team doesn’t have an XI available, we needed protocols to deal with that.”

After the game, Dyche was effusive in his praise of the Everton players, admitting he “couldn’t be any more proud” of the way that they had bounced back.

“[There have been] a lot of question marks about what we are trying to achieve here and we had to answer them – I think the players have done. It was a good performance, a committed performance.

That is according to former Premier League scout Mick Brown, who has claimed that Dyche and co could now accept offers to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin in January.

However, he is into the final months of his £100,000 a week deal at Goodison Park, and though he has been praised for his “fantastic” ability in the air, the Toffees do not want to lose him for nothing in the summer.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown explained that “if they can sell him for big enough money, they’ll do it”, but warned “it’s got to be enough so that they can take the money and reinvest in a new striker.”

“If not, he’ll probably leave for free, because he’s already turned down contract offers from them and it looks like he’ll be moving on”, he added.

As a potential free agent, Calvert-Lewin has been linked with the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal for a summer move, though it seems unlikely either side would move for him in January.

Promoted with two different teams, Parker is currently on course to fulfil his self-proclaimed aim for a third time with the Lancashire outfit.

“For sure, the aim this year is for us to be competing at the right end of the table and trying to take this club into the Premier League”, he explained after taking the job over the summer.

The defender, who currently plays for MLS side Philadelphia Union, has turned in a series of impressive performances in the US, with Philadelphia writer Jimmy King dubbing his “one of the best in MLS” for his efforts so far this campaign.

The defender is under contract until 2026, but as per Florian Plettenberg “there is a release clause for this winter amounting to €2 million” (£1.6m) and that has seen Burnley, Coventry, Atalanta and Parma among those expressing an interest in signing the 27-year-old in January.

Both the Clarets and Frank Lampard’s side are “pushing” to get a deal done, perhaps before any further interest materialises.

Lucas Pires is the only recognised left-back available to Parker as things stand, and he has been forced to use Bashir Humphreys there when Pires has been unavailable.

A new left-back is therefore a priority target for January, with Humphreys a centre-back by trade and the club clearly on the hunt for more cover and competition for Pires in the fullback role.
