José Carlos Peres não é mais presidente do Santos. Neste domingo (22), os associados do clube aprovaram o impeachment do cartola com 1.005 votos a favor, 69 contra e quatro abstenções. O dirigente estava afastado do comando santista desde 28 de setembro, quando o Conselho Deliberativo aprovou a abertura do processo.

A Assembleia Extraordinária de Sócios aconteceu no Ginásio Athiê Jorge Cury, quadra de futebol localizada dentro do estádio Urbano Caldeira, entre 10h e 18h, e, diferentemente do pleito eleitoral previsto para o dia 12 de dezembro, não teve urnas instaladas na sede da Federação Paulista de Futebol, na cidade de São Paulo, nem voto à distância, uma novidade no Estatuto Social do Peixe.

A parte da manhã foi mais movimentada, com fluxo intenso de pessoas, filas e, entre 12h e 12h45, manifestação de uma das torcidas uniformizadas santistas na frente da Vila Belmiro pedindo o impeachment de José Carlos Peres.

O agora ex-presidente não compareceu ao local, diferentemente do mandatário em exercício, Orlando Rollo, vice de Peres, mas rompido desde os primeiros meses de mandato, em 2018, que foi ao estádio santista.

O gestor foi desligado do cargo após o Conselho Fiscal apontar gestão temerária e reprovar as contas do Santos em 2019, alegando, dentre outras coisas, uso inadequado do cartão corporativo e repasse não registrado de comissão ao empresário Renato Duprat na venda do atacante Bruno Henrique ao Flamengo. O parecer foi levado à Comissão de Inquérito e Sindicância e aprovado pelo Conselho Deliberativo.

Com o resultado das urnas, Peres se torna o primeiro presidente do Santos FC a sofrer impeachment. Ele já havia sido o pioneiro entre os gestores brasileiros a ser afastado da presidência por meio das diretrizes do Profut, programa de refinanciamento de dívidas das equipes brasileiras aplicado estatutariamente no Peixe no fim de 2019.

Esse foi o segundo processo de impedimento pelo qual Peres passou durante os seus menos de três anos de mandato. O primeiro aconteceu em setembro de 2018, após alegação do Conselho Deliberativo de participação do ex-presidente em uma empresa de agenciamento de atletas, o que é vetado pelo Estatuto Social. Na ocaisção, o impeachment passou pelos conselheiros, mas à época não havia a previsão de afastamento e José Carlos acabou “se salvando” por meio dos sócios, que negaram, por maioria simples, a saída do cartola do clube.

The west Londoners have gone on a slightly upward trajectory of late, winning 4-1 away to Spurs on Monday last week before scoring four past Man City in a nail-biting 4-4 at Stamford Bridge over the weekend. Some of Pochettino's side now have time to rest up over the international break, with the Argentine, Todd Boehly and his co-sporting directors also gaining a minute to discuss transfer plans for January.

Despite scoring eight in their last two league games, it is still believed Chelsea want to sign a striker. Heavily criticised summer signing Nicolas Jackson has managed to get on the scoresheet far more often lately, but the former Villarreal star still looks a fair bit away from the finished article.

The Blues have been linked with Brentford star Ivan Toney as one option, with Napoli star Victor Osimhen coming as another.

“I like him [Palmer], I think he’s good but I don’t think he’s the answer,” said pundit Peter Crouch on TNT Sports (via TEAMtalk) recently, urging Chelsea to bring in a number nine.

“I think with Chelsea, as well as they did against Arsenal, I think they need a traditional No.9 – they’ve had Drogba as the main one in recent times but now they’ve been linked with Ivan Toney.

“If they can go out and get him, then that’d be absolutely perfect for them because what they have around that is perfect.”

While Toney possesses Premier League experience, Osimhen could come as a great option for Chelsea given just how excellent he's been for Napoli.

Osimhen "interested" in Chelsea talks

As per TEAMtalk, Chelsea may have been handed a boost in pursuit of the Nigerian, with Osimhen now "interested" in opening talks to join Pochettino.

Osimhen is more open to leaving Naples after a bizarre TikTok row with his club, opening the door for interested suitors like Chelsea to tempt him away.

The 24-year-old, who's scored six goals in eight Serie A appearances this season, is on a reported £113,000-per-week (Salary Sport), but his wages won't be the issue. If Chelsea do manage to sign Osimhen, the report suggests he could cost as much as £120 million, but he's seen as the "perfect solution" to solve Pochettino's striker problem.

Osimhen's former manager, Walter Mazzarri, was one of the firs to notice Osimhen's quality in 2021 – and he has since gone on to become a superstar at Napoli.

“Osimhen is phenomenal because he runs alone at five players and gets through. If you look at genuine scoring opportunities, compared to the number Napoli created lately, I didn’t see that many,” Mazzarri told DAZN as quoted by Football Italia, after an Osimhen brace against Sampdoria.

“We intentionally kept a deep defensive line, because if we pushed higher like the other teams, we’d concede four or five like they did with Osimhen able to run into space. Obviously, Napoli had more possession and attacked more, but this was an intentional approach.”

كشفت تقارير صحفية تطورًا مفاجئًا في مفاوضات أتلتيكو مدريد مع نظيره مانشستر سيتي، للحصول على خدمات اللاعب جوليان ألفاريز هذا الصيف.

ويسعى أتلتيكو مدريد إلى التعاقد مع المهاجم الأرجنتيني في موسم الانتقالات الصيفي الحالي.

وبدأ النادي الإسباني مفاوضاته مع نظيره بطل الدوري الإنجليزي، في الأيام الماضية، ولكن التشاؤم كان يُحيط بالمحادثات بسبب ابتعاد الطرفين عن الاتفاق الخاص بالرسوم المالية.

وأوضحت أنه على الرغم من عدم التوصل إلى اتفاق كامل بعد، إلا أن الأمر أصبح يلوح في الأفق الآن، حيث وصلت المحادثات إلى مرحلة التفاوض على السعر النهائي وهيكل الدفع.

وأفادت أن هناك تقدمًا كبيرًا منذ بدء المحادثات الأسبوع الماضي، وحال حدوث الصفقة، فمن المتوقع أن تكون الرسوم 5 أضعاف على الأقل المبلغ الذي دفعه مانشستر سيتي لضم ألفاريز من ريفر بليت في يناير 2022، الذي بلغ 14 مليون جنيه إسترليني.

While the ongoing takeover of the Blues has continued to slowly drag on of late, it looked as though Sean Dyche's side had some positive momentum before the international break, with optimism returning among the fanbase. That has changed hugely with the news that Everton have been deducted 10 points for breaking financial rules, however, in a swift decision that saw them head straight back into the relegation zone.

A fervent Goodison Park was on show for the Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, but despite hope that the atmosphere would help the Blues to victory, they instead fell to a 3-0 defeat. There is seemingly some light at the end of the tunnel mind, with experts predicting the points deduction will be reduced.

For the time being though, it feels like one setback after another for Everton, and while they have shown enough this season to suggest that relegation can still be avoided even with the deduction, more quality needs to be added to the squad in the January transfer window, assuming funds are available.

A new update has emerged regarding the Merseysiders' potential business, and it looks as though they could be looking to snap up a player who enjoyed a superb 2022/23 season, but who hasn't shone as much this time around.

Everton keen on signing Chuba Akpom

According to a fresh transfer update from TEAMtalk, Everton are keen on the idea of signing Ajax striker Chuba Akpom in January, but are joined by various other clubs in the mix.

"Sources have now told TEAMtalk that Akpom is open to the idea of a move to the Premier League and with Ajax ready to consider a loan deal, there is interest. Crystal Palace and Fulham are both very keen on a possible deal for the 28-year-old, while Everton, Burnley, Luton Town and Sheffield United are also keeping tabs on the situation."

Goals have come at a premium for Everton throughout this season, with only 14 scored in 13 Premier League matches, and the poor finishing on Sunday once again highlighted why a new striker is important in January. Akpom could be an excellent option to come in and give Dyche more depth, with his performances for Middlesbrough last season highlighting what a threat he can be in the final third.

The Everton transfer target scored 28 goals in 37 starts in the Championship in 2022/23, winning the PFA Championship Players' Player of the Year award in the process, and while he hasn't necessarily shown that he can do it in the top-flight for a sustained period, his record at Ajax is good despite a lack of playing time.

Akpom has scored five times in nine Eredivisie outings for the Dutch giants, with only two of those appearances coming from the start, and if he is keen on leaving in the winter window, the Blues would be wise to try and snap him up. Averaging a goal every 49 league minutes this term, he has been hailed as "terrific" by Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick.

To describe Manchester United's season as a disappointment so far this year would be quite an understatement.

From finishing third, challenging the top two in moments and winning the League Cup last season to falling apart in the Champions League, looking abysmal in the Premier League and going out in the League Cup at the first opportunity- things haven't gone to plan this year.

Now, there are obviously a multitude of reasons for this total loss of form – more than we can go into – but one of the biggest reasons is simply their inability to put the ball in the back.

So far this season, Erik ten Hag's men have scored just 16 Premier League goals, which is more than just five sides in the league, and one man who is particularly guilty of this failing is Marcus Rashford.

However, could transfer target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia be the man to help bring back the Englishman's goalscoring form?

According to a report from 90min last month, Manchester United are one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing Napoli's and Georgia star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in 2024.

The publication revealed that United, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Manchester City all sent scouts to watch Georgia play Spain last month, and while some other players of interest were taking part, the Serie A winner was the centre of attention.

The 22-year-old is currently contracted to the club until 2027 but is said to be negotiating a 12-month extension to his deal as the Neapolitan side look to ward off the European giants that have begun circling above.

When speaking about the dynamic winger's future earlier this year, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis seemed to downplay any potential departure, saying: "Do you want to stop it? He already signed for five years last summer."

However, the Napoli president has made a name for himself for being, shall we say, eccentric, and so everything he says should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Should the Red Devils opt to sign Kvaratskhelia, they can expect to pay a transfer fee in the region of €100m, or about £87m, and while that is undeniably expensive, he could prove to be worth every penny should he unlock the attacking threat of Rashford as well.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could create space for Marcus Rashford

When it comes to United's attackers this season, none of them have covered themselves in glory. Alejandro Garnacho has found some form of late, scoring goals against Everton and Galatasaray, but overall, those entrusted to score the team's goals have not fulfilled their roles.

This problem is perhaps made all the more apparent by the fact that Scott McTominay is currently the club's joint-top scorer in the Premier League this season – that'll be a pub quiz question in years to come.

So, how does Kvaratskhelia compare to the competition at Old Trafford? Well, in essentially every attacking statistic that matters, the "Georgian Magician" is miles ahead.

He has scored as many goals as the rest have combined, registered three times as many assists, creates considerably more for his teammates and, most importantly, consistently and successfully takes on opposing defenders, creating space for his teammates to exploit.

With his 3.08 successful take-ons per 90, he is taking on the opposing fullback more than twice as much as Antony, almost three times more than Rasmus Hojlund and six times more than Anthony Martial.

Were the "unstoppable" winger – as he was dubbed by scout Jacek Kulig – to take the starting spot on the left flank and Rashford keep his place on the right – where he has been starting in recent weeks – the space opened up by the 22-year-old dynamo could be easily and frequently exploited by Rashford, giving him the platform to rediscover his electrifying form of last year where he found the net 30 times.

This ability to create mayhem with his direct dribbling was noted by Jürgen Klopp last season before Liverpool played – and lost – against Napoli in the Champions League:

“When he has the advantage of the first movement then he is already gone. You have to try to be there in the moment when the ball arrives, but if you cannot do that then you need to be protected because he has speed, he is cheeky, he goes inside, he can go outside, that makes it always really difficult. A good player.”

It will be an expensive deal to complete, but should United have the opportunity to sign Kvaratskhelia, they should take it – for their own sake and Rashford's.
